Berkeley, Calif., – March 3, 2004 – Dust Incorporated (www.dust-inc.com), the leader in low-power wireless mesh networks, appointed Joy Weiss President and CEO. The founder and former CEO of Dust, Kris Pister, will assume the new role of CTO, and will continue to lead the company’s technical vision and provide the overall architecture for Dust’s mesh networking product line. “I have spent over a decade developing this technology and, with our recent round of funding, it’s now time for us to transition to widescale commercial implementation of our products,” said Dust founder and CTO Kris Pister. “Joy’s extensive operational and management experience will ensure that we bring Dust’s products to market quickly, and maximize our growth in the emerging wireless sensor market.” Weiss spent the first 15 years of her career at Nortel, where she oversaw record order and profit growth as President and GM of the Prism Network Management division. She also served as VP of Sales and Marketing, where she architected a landmark multi-year, multi-product supply agreement for Nortel. Joy then went on to become President and CEO of Esker, a French-based enterprise software company focused on host-access applications. Weiss led Esker through an IPO and a successful merger. More recently, she was President and CEO of Inviso, a privately-held company that developed award winning micro-display products for mobile computing and wireless internet applications. She currently serves on the board of Glimmerglass, a privately held provider of transparent connectivity solutions based on microphotonics technology. Weiss received her BSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “It is exciting to be on the ground floor of the wireless sensor revolution,” said Dust’s newly appointed President and CEO Joy Weiss. “I believe that Dust’s unique wireless mesh networking products solve pressing cost and operational problems in real-world applications across multiple, multibillion dollar markets.” About Dust Networks Based in Berkeley, California, Dust develops hardware and software for low-power wireless mesh networks. Dust networks enable reliable, unattended monitoring of critical processes and assets. Patent pending mesh networking software, teamed with battery-powered wireless communication nodes, form a resilient, self-healing network that can operate with zero maintenance for years at a time on standard AAA or coin cell batteries. Unlike traditional wired control systems, Dust networks require no cable runs for power or data communication – greatly reducing the cost and complexity of connecting, maintaining and retrofitting installed sensors and actuators. Dust brings reliable, comprehensive monitoring and control within reach, enabling more informed decision making and better process control. For more information please visit www.dust-inc.com. #### |
