Process Monitoring
Greater access to process parameters gives engineers better visibility and ultimately better decision making power. Wireless connectivity brings comprehensive monitoring into reach by dramatically reducing the cost and complexity of accessing more measurement points. The rock-solid reliability and simple installation and management of SmartMesh-enabled solutions lets engineers get the measurements they need, when they need them to improve productivity. And, by leveraging the new WirelessHART standard, device commissioning is just as simple as in the wired world – no need for new skills, tools or consultants. Take advantage of existing multi-variable instruments: While most instruments have the ability to digitally report multiple variables, hard-wired (4-20mA) connections are typically only able to report a single process variable to the control system. Wirelessly accessing installed instruments provides a seamless way to gain multi-variable access without interrupting the wired connection or affecting the control system. With over 24 million HART devices installed today the ability to access multivariable information with a simple WirelessHART adapter will be a boon to process engineers worldwide. Extend monitoring coverage: A plant’s monitoring coverage will only extend to some economically justified boundary. This boundary often does not cover the entire facility but only those areas considered critical to the process. Easy to install wireless connectivity extends this line to include peripheral areas and process measurements that were previously infeasible or impractical to reach with wired connections. Automate error-prone manual processes: Many monitoring and maintenance tasks are accomplished by a technician and a clipboard. Wireless instruments can be used to automate these processes and increase plant availability and safety. |
